What's the meaning of this biblically based "Rejoice" drinkware?!?

When people think about the Torah, they often picture a list of commandments, but if you read it and look closely, you’ll notice something beautiful woven throughout; Yahweh commands His people to rejoice. One of the clearest examples comes from Deuteronomy 14:26:
"And you shall use the silver for whatever your being desires: for cattle or sheep, for wine or strong drink, for whatever your being desires. And you shall eat there before יהוה your Elohim, and you shall rejoice, you and your household."
This verse is part of the instructions for the Feast Days. The people were told to set aside a tithe of their increase to bring to Jerusalem. If the journey was too far, they could sell what they had, carry the money, and then buy what they needed when they arrived. But here’s the best part: Yahweh actually told them to use those resources to celebrate!
Why “Rejoice” Matters The word rejoice isn’t a suggestion here... it’s a command. Our Creator wants us to enjoy His appointed times, to gather with family and community, to eat and drink with glad hearts, and to remember His goodness. This is so different from the way religion is often portrayed. Instead of being burdened, we’re told to celebrate with joy before Him. Rejoicing is part of worship.
The reason why we put “Rejoice” on our drinkware at Shema Shoppe is that we want our products to be more than just things you use. We want them to carry meaning. That’s why we put “Rejoice” on our mugs and drinkware.
- Every sip can remind you that Yahweh desires your joy. *
- Every gathering with friends or family can echo the feasts of old.
-
Every fireside morning coffee or evening glass of wine at Sukkot can be an act of remembering: I am called to rejoice before my Elohim. It’s not about caffeine or alcohol, it is about carrying His command to celebrate.
You can:
- Rejoice over a shared meal with your family.
- Rejoice when you celebrate the Feasts, wherever you are.
- Rejoice in the small blessings of daily life, even with something as simple as your favorite mug in hand.
So next time you pick up a cup that says “Rejoice,” let it remind you of Deuteronomy 14:26.
Yahweh doesn’t just want obedience—He wants joyful obedience. Because life with Him is worth celebrating.
Shalom Y'all!
